Patil Twins background!
****The application is a little confusing because of the Parvati/Padma combo. Anything that doesn't have something like (as Padma) or (as Parvati) behind it applies all the time. The things that are marked (as Parvati) are the things that apply when she first wakes up and believes she is Parvati. The ones marked (as Padma) are what I see her settling into permanently once she fully recovers. ****
Name: Parvati (Padma) Patil House: Gryffindor (as Parvati)/Ravenclaw (as Padma) Year (for 1975-1976): Fifth Blood Status: Pureblood Birthday: May 22, 1980 (Gemini on the cusp of Taurus) Pet (if any): NA
Physical Appearance: Padma is pretty Indian girl of average height with long black hair. Her style is a reflection of the many communities that have had an impact on her life. She can be seen wearing her school uniform, traditional Indian garments, or simple muggle clothing. Whatever she wears it is always conservative, clean, and in good condition. While always slim, she has lost additional weight recently while recovering in the infirmary.
Biography: Padma and Parvati Patil come from a home that is influenced by many elements. Both of their parents were wizards, but their are enough muggles in the previous generations that the Patil's are not considered a pureblood family. Their lives are influenced heavily by wizarding society, as well as muggle Indian culture. The Patil family is incredibly protective of the girls and not entirely supportive of their daughters' association with Harry Potter and others who take a strong stand against Voldemort. While they are in no way supporters of the Dark Lord, they do not consider it their responsibility to fight him, and they fear for the safety of their children above all else. Parvati, influenced by her housemates, was beginning to participate in, and truly believe in, a more active opposition to the Dark Lord. Padma, until recently, was an even more passive personality than her sister. She joined in the DA activities, not from any real conviction, but rather to please her sister. Like her parents, she considers it the responsibility of those who are older, braver, etc to deal with Voldemort.
All that has now changed. The brutality of the battle at Hogwarts was an incredible shock to Padma. She never truly expected to find herself fighting for her life in the halls of Hogwarts. Her capture was another huge shock. Most of the last conversation she had with her sister consisted of her complete disbelief that Crabbe and Goyle would truly carry out their threats. She spent most of the time trying to convince Parvati that they just needed to play along and wait for rescue. Parvati's sacrifice, on the heels of her own denials was a third shock that reduced her to little more than a walking catatonia.
Then there was the spell....
(see writing sample below for how the spell affected Padma)

Romantic history: Parvati and Padma both come from a very sheltered family environment. Their parents are very overprotective, and five years at boarding school has not changed this. Both girls, like many others, were starstruck by Harry for a time, but after the Fourth Year Yule Ball they lost interest in him. Neither girl has done much serious dating since then.
What was your character’s status before Dumbledore’s spell? Padma was alive and wandering dazedly and Parvati was dead. However, Padma will avoid and dodge this question at all costs if it ever comes up. This question is at the heart of her current mental turmoil. The fact that Parvati saved her is one of the key factors in her assuming Parvati's persona. Obviously, if questioned too deeply, it will be difficult for her to reconcile the facts of the situation, that Parvati died to save her, with her current identity as Parvati.
Future Students: What does your character want to accomplish while in the past? The death of Parvati has had a profound effect on her sister that will linger on even past her recovery from her current mental confusion. Padma will likely develop a much stronger personality and be a much more active participant in the fight against Voldemort. Her greatest goal will be to prevent her sister's death and fight Voldemort. She'll may have to decide which of those goals is more important to her if it appears only one of the two is possible.
